Beau James J Bar J Magic Merlin
The story of a merle Pomeranian.
Merle Pomeranians present a challenge even to the serious color-breeder-exhibitor. Therefore we recommend them as companions or to the serious color enthusiast only. Merles must NEVER be mated to other merles-or blindness and deafness could result in the puppies. They do best mated to blacks, blues and chocolates but any recessive color will work except white or cream. Brindle is NOT a recessive color-but a dominant pattern-and should not be mated to merle. Breed them to only the finest specimens available in the breed-as type will then improve rather than decline. Currently the merle Pomeranians lack type but conscientious breeding will improve this in the years to come. Merles are an allowed color pattern according to the AKC standard-but a merle Pomeranian has never been finished to it's AKC Championship as of this date.
